How does the Wisconsin Testing Organization perform certification tests?
The Wisconsin Testing Organization uses the latest ADL SCORM Conformance Test Suite software as the primary basis of certification when testing LMSs and content for SCORM conformance. When testing LMSs, the Wisconsin Testing Organization uses additional content package(s) to test support of various requirements.
How much does certification cost? When do I pay?
Fees are based on the time and complexity involved in each individual test. For SCORM 1.2 LMSs and content, a non-refundable $500 USD fee is charged for the certification testing. For SCORM 2004 LMSs, the non-refundable fee is $1500 USD and for SCORM 2004 Content, the fee is $1000 USD. Average costs have ranged from the minimum to $2000 USD (including the non-refundable fee). You are invoiced after certification testing has been completed.
How long will the certification process take?
The entire process ranges from a week to much longer, depending on a variety of factors, including: the vendor responsiveness to technical questions and return of legal documents, shipping and payment delays, number of products waiting to be tested, and if certification issues are encountered. We attempt to respond to questions within one business day.
Can you test my LMS over the Internet? Do I have to send you software or a laptop?
For SCORM 1.2 LMS tests, remote testing is discouraged and only available as a last resort. The Wisconsin Testing Center is required to obtain administrative access to your operating system, database, and LMS. However, for SCORM 2004 LMS tests, the Wisconsin Testing Organization has secured approval for remote testing with only administrative access to the LMS (to import courses and add students).
How long does the certification last? Does it apply to new versions of my product?
SCORM certifications do not expire, but only apply to the tested version of your product. Even if the code supporting SCORM does not change between product versions, certification only applies to the tested release of your product.
What do we get when we pass the certification test? What kind of "proof", that designates our product as certified?
Products that pass ADL certification receive the ADL Certified Logo, Test Suite logs and Wisconsin Testing Organization SCORM Conformance Test Results Report. The product information is posted under "ADL Certified Products" on http://www.adlnet.gov.
What methods of payment do you accept?
The Wisconsin Testing Organization accepts checks, money orders, credit cards (Visa or MasterCard only, sorry) or wire transfers.
